Get your own kanga
In Zanzibar, the kanga is far more than just a piece of brightly colored fabric; it is a vital medium of cultural expression and social communication. Typically sold in pairs (doti), these rectangular cotton cloths feature a bold border (pindo), a central graphic design (mji), and—most importantly—a printed Swahili proverb or message known as the ina.
